Our Mission

Our names are Makena and Kiki Parker. Treesteps is for our Girl Scout Silver Award. We wanted to base this project on something that we care about, and that will have a lasting beneficial impact in the world. That is why we chose to build our project on tree planting. We made an easy and fun way to help our environment by growing saplings to share with our community. People are able to receive healthy saplings, that are ready to plant in there very own yards, gardens and homes. This way anyone can help the Earth in just three easy steps: learn, plant, and care.

About the Founders

Makena Parker

I am Makena, one of the TreeSteps Co-founders, and I am a senior Girl Scout. I will be going into 9th grade at Santa Monica High school online. During this quarantine, I was very grateful that the new seniors’ time to do our silver awards had been extended. This meant that me and my sister could do our project together, which we were very excited about. We quickly chose this project because we both loved plants and it was an easy way for others to contribute.

Aside from Girl Scout, I also dance various styles including ballet, hip hop, and Hawaiian hula. I also love art and have been drawing as soon as a could hold a pencil. A care about the Earth and hope that we can build a healthier world for our future.

Kiki Parker

I am Kiki and I’m a cadette Girl Scout working on my silver award. I’m one of the TreeSteps Co-founders and I wanted to share trees with my community because they are so beneficial. I’m going into 7th grade at John Adams Middle School online. During quarantine I’ve been able to find some new hobbies and I love crafting, fixing, and painting things. Since I have so much time, me and my sister have been doing a lot of baking as well. We also attend online dance classes. I’ve been dancing for over five years, doing Hawaiian, Ballet, Hip hop, and competitive dancing. In my spare time I love to paint, sketch, or work on puzzles. I hope to improve the planet one step at a time.

Although trees may seem like a lot of work and time, they bring a big positive impact to both the Earth and your home with little sweat. With our project, people can easily find all the instruction and resources they need.
